Government loan to travel operators selling package trips and rebooked package trips
In February 2021, we received a new mandate from the government. We were to accept applications and process cases involving government loans aimed at travel operators that sell package trips. In July 2021, we received another mandate from the government.
We are to accept applications and process cases involving government loans aimed at travel operators that sell rebooked package trips. The purpose of the loans is to enable the travel operator to pay refunds to travellers.
During the period 10 February to 1 March 2021, travel operators that have arranged travel guarantees with us and that sell package trips or are resellers of package trips for operators with a registered office outside the European Economic Area (EEA) could apply to us for a government loan.
This mandate related to the processing of government loans to operators and resellers of package trips that have requirements to reimburse travellers for interrupted or cancelled trips. The purpose of the loan is to enable repayments to be made to travellers.
During the period 2 August to 31 August 2021, travel operators that have arranged travel guarantees with us and that sell package trips or are resellers of package trips for operators with a registered office outside the European Economic Area (EEA) can apply to us for a government loan.
This mandate relates to the processing of government loans to operators and resellers of package trips that have requirements to reimburse travellers for cancelled trips that have been rebooked. The purpose of the loan is to enable repayments to be made to travellers.
In order to enable repayments to be made travellers, the government has decided to offer the opportunity to apply for a government loan, based on the liabilities to travellers that operators have at the time of the application.
Only a package trip operator may apply for a loan. If you are a private individual waiting for a refund from a package trip operator, you cannot influence the process with us at Kammarkollegiet, Legal, Financial and Administrative Services Agency.
