1 Scope and deductible

1.1 When and where does the insurance apply?

The insurance applies during the time stated by the insurance confirmation. It applies to the entire world during the term of the insurance. In a group insurance, the insurance also applies during the direct travel and return between the city of residence in Sweden and the country of service, on condition that this journey is made no earlier than two weeks before the beginning of the period of service or two weeks after the end of the period of service.

1.2 Who does the insurance apply to?

This insurance applies to the people covered by URA group or URA individual and where the authority has taken out Supplementary property insurance as a supplement.

1.3 Deductible

The insurance applies without deductible.

2 Insurance coverage

The insurance covers damage to or loss of the insured’s private personal goods brought with or acquired during the journey, compensating this in a maximum amount agreed between the authority and Kammarkollegiet and stated in the insurance confirmation. The amount applies in total for the employee and accompanying family members insofar as such exist. Loss of money and documents of value is reimbursed by a maximum of SEK 5,000. Jewellery and watches are reimbursed by a maximum of SEK 10,000 per item.

The reimbursement may be adjusted if the insured had been negligent. The same applies if the insured did not report or try to limit the damage.

The insurance reimburses necessary and reasonable extra costs that are a direct consequence of a compensable claim up to SEK 5,000. Examples of such costs are:

  • phone costs to lock account cards/bank cards/credit cards

  • travel costs to file a police report or obtain a new passport

  • new keys/new lock for the insured’s private home or private vehicle.

The insurance does not apply for the following:

  • Damage to or loss of cash, travel documents, items partly or entirely made of precious metal, real pearls and precious stones, antiques, objects of art, cameras, mobile phones, tablets, computers or other electronic equipment with accessories, alcoholic beverages, tobacco or other fragile or theft-prone property, if such property has been left for transport, registration or storage otherwise.

  • Malfunctions that arose without connection to a sudden, unforeseen and externally originating damage event. Damage or malfunction due to climate or environmental impact (e.g. moisture damage, impact from sand, rust or dirt).

  • Damage through age and use, superficial damages, such as dents or scratches without substantial impact on the usability.

  • Damage or loss that can be reimbursed through another insurance, transport company, hotel or the like.

  • Damage to sports equipment during use.

  • Damage to or loss of a motor vehicle, boat, aircraft, caravan or trailer, removal (moving) goods or animals.

  • Purchases, withdrawals or use done with the help of stolen, copied or lost account cards, credit cards, SIM cards or the like.

  • Apps, media files or other software for computers, mobile phone, tablets or the like.

Note

Fragile or theft-prone property shall be carried as carry-on luggage. One should be aware that thefts from checked locked bags are not uncommon.

Kammarkollegiet takes over ownership of lost property that Kammarkollegiet has provided reimbursement for. If items for which reimbursement has been received are found, the insured shall notify Kammarkollegiet of this as soon as possible.

Regulation

The insured must present a certification of the report as follows:

Theft shall be immediately reported to the Police Authority in the city of crime. Theft at a hotel shall also be reported to the hotel. Damage to or loss of transported property shall be reported to the transport company. The hotel’s and transport company’s liability, commitments or offers shall primarily be requested and utilised.

Negligence

The insured must observe normal care, meaning handle and store the property in a secure manner and otherwise do what can reasonably be required to avoid being struck by theft or other damage. For example, leaving money in a hotel room or leaving theft-prone property in a car is generally considered negligent. In the event of negligence, the reimbursement is normally reduced to half if the circumstances do not show that the negligence was minor or of minor significance to the insurance case. If the negligence was particularly serious, the right to reimbursement may be withheld completely. If the insured has forgotten, lost or misplaced the property, an adjustment is normally made down to 50 per cent.

Reimbursement rules

In the event of property damage, a verified repair cost is reimbursed, although at most by an amount corresponding to the property’s market value before the damage. In the event of damage or loss, reimbursement is provided only if the insured can verify the possession and the damage or loss of the property.

In the event of loss or damage that is not repairable, the property’s market value before the damage is reimbursed. If an actual market value cannot be established, the value is estimated to the reacquisition cost with deductions for age and use. Deduction for age and use is made by 10 per cent per year as of the second year after the purchase year although not more than by 70 per cent. For clothes, shoes and boots, however, deduction is made or age and use by 20 per cent per year as of the first year after the acquisition year although not more than by 70 per cent. For mobile phones, deduction for age and use is made by 25 per cent per year as of the first year after the purchase year although not more than by 70 per cent.

For consumables, such as make-up, perfume, hygiene articles and underwear, reimbursement is paid in a maximum of 50 per cent of the new price.

3 Insurance claim

An insurance claim must be signed by both the insured and the authority. In addition, the person requesting reimbursement must

  • in the event of theft or assault, attach a certificate of the report issued by the police at the location where the damage occurred,

  • in the event of damage, theft or loss that occurred during transport or at a hotel, attach a certificate of the report issued by the transport company or hotel, respectively,

  • provide a specified claim for reimbursement and enclose receipts or other verifications,

  • if other insurance applies for the same damage, inform Kammarkollegiet of this and

  • upon request by Kammarkollegiet provide information and provide doctor’s certificate and other documents that it needs to settle the claim and contribute to inspection of damaged property being able to take place.

Regulation

If the insured were to disregard obligations according to the terms in Supplementary property insurance, the reimbursement may be reduced or be withheld completely.

4 General terms and conditions

4.1 Other insurance

The insurance reimburses damage or expense only insofar as it cannot be reimbursed by other insurance, ordinance or law.

4.2 Limitation

The right to reimbursement ends three years after the damage date if the report was not received by Kammarkollegiet prior thereto. The damage date is the date of the event that forms the basis of the insurance case.

4.3 Reclamation

Insofar as Kammarkollegiet has paid reimbursement in an insurance case, it assumes the insured’s right against another that is responsible for the damage.

4.4 Interpretation of terms

If there is a difference between this English version of terms and conditions and the Swedish version, the Swedish one applies.

4.5 Register of insurance claims, GSR

The company has the right to use an industry wide register of insurance claims – the ”GSR” - to register loss claims under this policy.
